You’re taking the right step in seeking professional care for your discomfort and concerns, and we want your first appointment to cut through those initial jitters and be as pleasant as possible. With your comfort in mind, the staff at Ankle and Foot Specialist of New Jersey provides the following information to help you prepare for your office visit.


To Make an Appointment

When you develop an issue with your feet, you can either call us at 908-222-8980 to schedule your visit or email us using the contact page on our website. We believe communication is key to a successful doctor-patient relationship and will reply promptly.

In turn, we ask that you give us 24-hour notice if you are unable to keep your appointment, so we can offer it to someone else who needs care.


How Finances Are Handled

We accept all major insurance plans and offer the convenience of filing your claims for you. However, you will want to check with your insurance provider first to make sure the visit is covered, and find out whether you need a referral from your primary care provider.

You should also ask about your deductible, copay, or fees that are not covered, so you can be prepared to pay for those at the time of your visit. We accept cash, check, or credit card payments. If you ever have questions about charges or insurance, call or email our staff so we can help.


What to Bring with You

To start with, you will need to have your insurance ID card and any referral letters from your primary care doctor with you. If you have already seen another provider for the problem and have medical records or test results, it is helpful to have those as well.

We need to have you fill out certain new patient forms before we begin your care, and if they are completed beforehand, we’ll have more time during your appointment to address your foot issues.

You should also have a list of any allergies and the medications, supplements, and herbal remedies you are currently using. Write down your symptoms and questions, too, so you can be sure we discuss them all at your visit. Having a pad and pencil to jot down notes will help you remember what we talk about when you get home again.

We can tell a lot about your feet from your footwear, so bring along your exercise shoes and one other pair you’ve worn a lot. We can check them for abnormal wear patterns and see how they interact with your feet as you move.
